I’m doing a little series of posts that feature old blog posts. I have been going back and looking at them. It’s been fun. I started blogging in June of 2009…WOW. Over ten years. I’m so glad I’ve kept the blog as a diary of sorts…today I’m telling you about projects I finished in February of 2011.
I was working on a UFO project list and I was tackling some of the projects. This is the first one…it’s a bottle cap trivet. I have made a few of these and love them.

I had just bought this book… Scraps and Shirttails Book Two. Bonnie Hunter had just released the book and it was fresh off the presses. I was THRILLED with the book and honestly, I still am. It is number one or number two of my favorite all-time, published after 2000, quilt books. I have, I think, 9 of the quilts from the book made!! I’d still love to make the rest.
That of course prompted me to buy shirts. So, I was busy collecting and deconstructing shirts. Can you believe I found I got 78 shirts for $16 at the thrift store all one swoop? In the same month, I got lucky and found 39 shirts for $13 You can read about them HERE.
I was a busy girl cutting them all up!!
I was also so excited that this fabric came in the mail and we started making our Chain of Faith quilt.
This became our most popular Moda Bake Shop project. You can find the pattern HERE.
I finished up the mystery quilt for that year. It was Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll.

I cussed it at the time but this quilt introduced me to string quilting and I grabbed ahold of that concept and RAN! I love making string quilts. When I think about giving away a quilt, this one NEVER comes to mind. I will keep it forever as it really was my start to string quilting and I have never looked back.
I had just finished up this quilt…
There are 216 flying geese in the quilt and they finish at 1″ x 2″. The pattern is from Country Threads called Civil Unrest. You can find it HERE. It’s funny that I just recently talked about this project.
I was busy using my Accuquilt Go! (I don’t have one anymore) I was using the Dresden Plate die to make this cute candle mat.

I was also using my Accuquilt to make some wool coasters. You can watch the video to make them HERE.
If you don’t have an Accuquilt Go you can make these with any Dresden plate pattern.
I was also busy making homemade slippers. No, I wasn’t knitting. I took old sweaters, cut them up, and made slippers. I used these for several years and very much enjoyed them.

…and here is my sweet Gracie sitting on the quilt. For those of you who are new to the blog, Gracie was my first beagle. She was a rescue and we really loved her.
So that’s what I was busy with in February of 2011. I love doing these Blast from the past posts. I seriously do not remember making this last quilt at all. I am sure I must have gifted it to someone. Writing the posts is really like going back and checking out my diary. I love it!!
